Movie Review: Despicable Me 3:
Despicable Me 3 is the next installment in what is apparently now a Despicable Me franchise. Starring the voices of Steve Carell as Gru and his brother Drew, Kristin Wigg as Lucy Wilde (Gru’s now wife) and Trey Parker as Balthazar Bratt (New Baddie).
The movie is an animation and is for your kids, so I’m not going to be too critical of this fun little film. Despicable Me 3 is everything we loved from the first two films, it’s got funny Minions, it’s almost unbelievably cute and it can be a lot of fun, kids will love it!
Though unlike previous movies, where I found I was only watching because of the Minions, this time around, Despicable Me 3 is so much more of a family movie than the first two films, almost painfully so. Gru’s brother: Drew; was fine, but I found his character to be way over the top and have the power of cringe to the level of sick. (Though it almost feels like Gru agrees with me on this one in the movie)
My favorite part of this movie though, was the Villain, unlike the first two movies who had weaker characters, this one was hilarious and extremely entertaining, everything from his fashion sense to his music, it was a lot of fun to watch.
This is definitely a movie to take your kids to, they’ll love it, the parents may find it a little old or worn like me, but the villian: Bratt, saves it for me and in this case besides the Minions, made me laugh aloud a lot.
At the end of the day, pay the money, give your kids something fun and OH SO FLUFFY to watch! Just remember, like so many animation franchises before it, like Shrek (remember Shrek?), the franchise has almost run out of jokes. But, hey, I laughed, so that made me happy!
