Instagram Live for South Africa:
Instagram Live is now finally open to the world! Launched initially to top accounts at the end of 2016, it’s had the world clambering for the new application throughout the world. Then, a brief advert on Instagram showcased the new update, but for a lot of us, we still couldn’t access the new addition.
Local YouTuber, SomeShap complained about this fact, but it seemed no sooner had the complaint been posted through Facebook Live stream, did he have access. Something similar happened to my own accounts.
Instagram Live Stream is another dip into the realm of live streaming through social media apps. This is not a new concept though, with the forerunners at Twitter’s Periscope and the forgotten Meerkat app showcasing the technology in 2015, Facebook launching and pushing their own Live capability in early 2016 to compete with Twitter.
Now, every app includes some form of Live ability, even WhatsApp!
I have found the experience far surpasses any other Live stream capability right now, even Facebook. This I feel is due to Instagram communities being more naturally engaging and the platform itself being primarily mobile centred, making it easier for users to jump on and off a stream than Facebook or Twitter. Also, unlike Twitter or Facebook, Live streams are stunningly displayed at the top of the screen making it even more enticing to access for the casual viewer.
While I feel this is another way Instagram is showing it’s ability to replace Facebook in five years or less, it’s also going to be one of the most effective communications tools for Snapchat adept brands in 2017. (Oh yeah forgot about Snapchat for a second)
Samsung Galaxy S8 won’t Explode!
News around the Samsung Galaxy S8 has slowly been seeping into the internet. The Verge for one has highlighted some of what we can expect when the iPhone killer is announced in March 2017.
One interesting rumour is the fact the Samsung Galaxy S8 will indeed have a headphone jack, this is also news after we were told close to the end of 2016 that the S8 would follow Apple and not include a headphone jack. I think if the jack is there or not, it’s not going to dramatically effect sales of either the iPhone of S8 in quarter 2 of 2017, Apple fans will always have a reason to stay with Apple and visa versa.
Other news around the Samsung Galaxy S8 include basic smartphone evolution advances we’ve seen in the iPhone and recent Huawei variations, including; microSD card support, USB-C, and a new version of the Gear VR headset and Gear 360 camera.
Samsung and top end smartphone technology fans are looking for a device that will replace the hole left by the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Samsung’s recent blow out device. Samsung’s president, Young-Ho Eom, published a formal apology to consumers of the Galaxy Note 7 device. (Airlines across the world have banned these devices on all flights)
The Samsung Galaxy S8 looks to be the iPhone killer fans have been waiting to gloat about, and honestly, I can’t wait to check it out either!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
The big news to come out of the land of lights and walks of fame is the title for the next instalment in the Star Wars movie franchise, called: The Last Jedi!
This latest instalment has got me all flustered and excited! Quite a few YouTubers and movie reviewers have speculated whether or not the fact that The Last Jedi, means the singular or the plural?
I think it’s plural personally, but a line in the introduction scroll of the Return of the Jedi in episode six mentioned Luke Skywalker, as the Last of the Jedi (Luke is our lead roll, played by Mark Hamill, I feel if you don’t know this though, you should be reading this). this tells me that there is more than likely going to be a lot of more of Luke Skywalker in the coming episodes, some say even more of a staring role.
I think the red in the title implies an extremely dark tone, one that I believe creators are trying to mirror off The Empire Strikes Back! (Unconfirmed, this is just my opinion, but it would be great for them to make a go at Empire, however unlikely that may be)
According to the Star Wars Official website, THE LAST JEDI is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.
This glorious next episode in the Star Wars universe is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.
