NeighbourGoods Market: First Thursdays 3.0

Neighbourgoods Night Market

NeighbourGoods: Sketch Death Match:

We love markets, but we love night markets even more! For this month’s First Thursday Night Market, we’re giving you something rad.

For the 3rd installment of the NeighbourGoods Night Market in November, we will be focusing on the art of drawing. There will be a public Sketch Battle (Brett Breaths Heavily) using overhead projectors that enable participants to create sketches in response to a theme. The sketch battle will be co-hosted by Hip-Hop scratch DJ, Themba Lunacy who will be supplying the beats while the artists compete for prizes and the love of the crowd.

There will also be a performance by award winning artist, Anthea Moys called The Portrait Exchange:

The Portrait Exchange, by Anthea Moys:

Fueled by the belief that everyone can draw, the performance is a game that is played between the artist Anthea Moys and any willing player who will sit opposite her. The rules are that they both have to draw each other in one minute, but are not allowed to look down at the page, putting them both at a disadvantage. Afterwards they sign and date the drawings and exchange them.

Come and experience the cultural and artistic roots of Johannesburg’s beautiful Braamfontein as NGM brings you a night market with reinvented entertainment to reimagine your First Thursday of every month.

It’s going to be rad! There’s also a sketch battle, and I plan to take home the gold! I’m sure if there are prizes come to think of it, but Ill have those precious bragging rights!
