Remember when this whole inner city market trend was new? When hipsters and their like didn’t call the markets home, when the space was time to enjoy ones self with some good beer, good food and a random stranger met coming up the stairs?
We don’t, we’re not that old! But what we do remember is the annual Night Markets out of Braamfontein, but we missed them before they really took off.
Maboneng toys with their own version of the Night Market on the first Thursday of every month, and offers a unique experience for the local community and sheltered adventurers. The First Thursday Night Market suddenly become “Maboneng Night Market!”.
That was until we had some information run across our desolate email screen: Neighbourgoods Night Market is back!
Neighbourgoods Night Market
After a winter hiatus, this September the Neighbourgoods Night Market will re-open on the 1st. Apparently the market space is revamped and this month, is the 4th birthday of the market! The Neighbourgoods Night Market is an experience of the cultural and artistic roots of beautiful Braamfontein as NGM brings you a night market with reinvented entertainment to reimagine your First Thursday of every month.
This special edition of the Neighbourgoods Night Market will feature a one night only audio visual installation powered by the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender and a pop up gaming arcade from Berlin’s A MAZE Festival.
The AV installation combines visuals from well known video and photographic artists with South Africa’s top electronic music producers, while the interactive arcade will showcase cutting edge games from the world’s leading independent game designers.
We’ll be attending as concerned citizens of the community that the beer may not be cold enough, and the food tasty enough! Interested in coming to Neighbourgoods Night Market, 1st September, let us know in the comments!
